Kelly Hansen Unites with Jan-Al Cases, Penn Elcom & Music Connection Magazine in Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
Kelly Hansen has joined Jan-Al Cases, renowned manufacturer of high-quality touring cases, and Music Connection Magazine, the music industry trade monthly, in A Case for The Cure campaign to raise money for breast cancer research.
In the business of manufacturing pro cases, racks and tour supplies for more than two decades, Jan-Al Cases decided to spearhead a campaign to unite music fans, musicians and the industry in building awareness about a disease that impacts millions. Heading off the campaign is the sale of pink production and touring case handles, donated by Penn Elcom CEO Phil Stratford. Penn Elcom is a leading manufacturer of flight case hardware. In addition, Music Connection Magazine will provide pro-bono marketing for the campaign, with the lead-off ad scheduled for the January 2012 issue. Hansen agreed to appear in the campaign and kick off the Music Connection Magazine series, shooting the first of the ads in November.
“I’m happy to do my part to share an important message and help build awareness about breast cancer,” says Hansen, who also announced that he will support the cause via his limited-edition, handcrafted sterling silver jewelry. Hansen will donate all profits from the sale of his handcrafted SOUND WAVE notched tags through January 2012 to breast cancer research. “I have a loved one impacted by this disease and it’s time to get behind research focused on prevention and cure of breast cancer,” he says.
A Case for The Cure campaign will be sponsoring events and selling handles and pink cases through Sept 2012. In addition, during the January 2012 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) trade show, the Penn Elcom booth will feature pink handles, t-shirts and other surprises about the Campaign.

Sound Wave – New Accessory Trend for Fall Fan Fashion
The first piece of the Kelly Hansen Jewelry Collection, called SOUND WAVE, is a solid sterling silver dog-tag pendant on bead-chain. Hansen plans to donate profits from the sale of the jewelry to a charity he’ll name at the end of this year.
The notched dog tag with polished finish is 2 1/8″ x 1 1/8″ and weighs 11 grams. On one side, raised off the background, is a beautifully-depicted sound wave of Hansen saying the word, love. The Kelly Hansen signature is featured on the flip side of this stylized, sleek jewelry item.
Hansen was inspired to create the SOUND WAVE pendant after receiving a gift from several servicemen last year. According to Hansen, he wants the jewelry to express universal messages and to visualize the beauty of music in the form of wearable, detailed and edgy art: “I chose love as the first sound wave because it’s a simple and powerful word, universal in any language. I’ll be looking for a cause that reflects the importance of love in our world. Let’s spread love around, that’s the message I want to share!”
Rockin’ for Breast Cancer Awareness on October 11
Hansen’s performance on ‘The Talk’ will include a music set as well as an appearance by Dyna Shiraski. ‘The Talk’ airs weekdays on CBS at 2pm ET, 1pm PT/CT.

Their work appears in exhibitions throughout the United States including the prestigious Carmel Art and Film Festival, the La Jolla Festival of the Arts and the Tucson Museum of Art fall and winter shows.
Kelly Hansen Does Elvis
In an all-in-one CD/DVD released September 12, Kelly Hansen enhances the extraordinary Foreigner catalog with his massive vocals and steamy renditions of Elvis Presley classics.
Hansen, who puts an incredible, soulful feel into his rendering of ‘That’s All Right,’ takes a moment to explain how high-energy Foreigner decided to experiment with going acoustic as part of the band’s new multi-disc package:
“We started doing acoustic shows in Europe during a promotional tour for “Can’t Slow Down” and were surprised by the overwhelming response. During rehearsals for acoustic shows we experimented with in the US, we would be hanging out and just jamming on different stuff like the Beatles and the Everly brothers, stuff that influenced us early on. So we said, ‘why don’t we throw some of that in?’ at one point.”
Regarding why Foreigner expanded outside their classics in the acoustic CD, Kelly says: “We decided to add ‘That’s All Right Mama’ to “Acoustique” because Elvis and his guitarist Scotty Moore were such big influences for Mick especially. Really enjoyed it!”
